I see at least two constants in biology.
1. is death on an individual level, and the extinction of life as it was on a macrobiology level
2. is the planting of new life that seeks to further the progress of adaptability towards the preservation of evolving and diverse consciousness.
These two things seem to be inherent to what separates biology from chemistry and physics. In the end, I don’t doubt our entire structure of Earthling life will be extinct. Let the rich people think they will build Noah’s ark in space. It’ll give us the funding we need to do what really needs to be done, which is probably something closer to living molecular nano-robots.
I do suspect the ultimate goal should be to establish life elsewhere that may not resemble our view of life as we perceive it at all so as to thrive in radically different planetary conditions. In other words, perhaps we should consider a planet with a sulphuric atmosphere not uninhabitable, but for life not based off of carbon with cellular structures; a composition that is engineered from an alternative to double-helix DNA.
