Ideological false dichotomies of abortion and human value

Honestly? I think Roe vs Wade was always on a shaky legal foundation. A certain level of developmental brain activity on part of the fetus would make more sense as to where I would draw the line morally. It also strikes me that a government that commits acts that sickens my stomach, like torture, is hardly in a position to exert moral authority. Legally? The original reasoning for it being in a federal court’s jurisdiction or authority to control is quite frankly weak. 50 years later, we do need change. Continuing to hold it up as stare decisis is quite frankly absurd. While I don’t think any government should be overly involved in one’s body autonomy, this doesn’t negate it is absurd to compare forcing reproductive issues on people to the economic pressure to get vaccinated against a virus that poses a true existential threat to human life as we know it. Those are just substantially different issues. Individual rights obviously need to be balanced with the rights of the group, most importantly when the right of the individual is at odds with the risk for the survival of others. Yeah, I’d love to see more liberals stand up and admit our legal foundation for abortion at least needs a radical overhaul. I wish the right would come to terms that this isn’t a fight of good vs evil, but more of a complex spectrum as to when to define any life as having the degree of sentience and intellectual complexity to where it should be treated with inherent value that isn’t inalienable; meaning it cannot be devalued. Fighting over the life of a zygote while bombing foreign civilians of a dictatorship really detracts from the belief that all human life is sacred. Truthfully? It’s more of a statement as to what we see as fully human. Yes, I think the government needs to write new laws that are more coherent and grounded in our actual contemporary values, versus what we falsely pretend to be our motives as a society. Laws sometimes need to be overturned as society progresses. The very nature of MAGA at the acronym level doesn’t describe progress, so much as a serious crisis of mental health and social conflict threatening established order. There are racial, subcultural, and socio-economic privileges that some have assumed they are entitled to that are lost as others rise up in the struggle to those who were strengthened by their need to overcome various disadvantages and harsher environmental realities. At the core of my belief that Roe vs Wade should be overturned is the hope we can handle the overhaul by the ways our Democratic Republic was intended to function. The Supreme Court should be a last resort to preserve us from becoming a mobocracy. We need to retain a branch of wise judges who are distanced from waves of social psychology as that is sometimes rather… disturbed. The court is out of balance and it appears to be currently our intellectual council of wise fools. It’s time to redefine our societal stance on various issues. 50 years is a good run for weak guidance. It would be better if society did completely rehash this issue. Laws shouldn’t be set in stone, and I don’t buy the authoritarian absolutism of ideological demagogues who quite frankly don’t have depth. I see idiots with false dichotomies on both sides.
